Dailies highlight joint statement by Egypt, France, Germany and Jordan on Israeli unilateral measures

Palestinian Arabic-language dailies focused today on a joint statement issued yesterday by the foreign ministers of Egypt, France, Germany and Jordan which called for ending all unilateral measures, including Israeli settlement construction, that undermine the Two-State Solution.

Al-Hayat al-Jadida and Al-Ayyam said the foreign ministers of Germany, Egypt, France and Jordan affirmed during a meeting in Munich yesterday their “commitment to support all efforts to achieve a just, lasting and comprehensive peace that fulfills the legitimate rights of all parties on the basis of the Two-State Solution, in accordance with international law and relevant United Nations resolutions.

In its main news story, Al-Quds said the all-Israeli municipality of Jerusalem has declined to state the 2022 budget allocated for the demolition of Palestinians’ homes in occupied Jerusalem during this year.

Al-Ayyam and Al-Quds said the Israeli occupation forces yesterday clamped down on Palestinian and pro-Palestinian protesters holding a vigil in occupied Jerusalem’s Sheikh Jarrah neighborhood against Israeli plans to expel Palestinian families from their homes in the neighborhood.

Al-Quds and Al-Hayat al-Jadida said hundreds of Palestinian prisoners are observing a series of measures in protest of Israeli maltreatment and repression of them inside the Israeli prisons.

The two dailies said in a different subject that Abdulkarim Dughmi, the Speaker of the Jordan House of Representatives, stressed that the Palestinian cause remains a central Arab cause, and that a fair and comprehensive solution of the Palestinian-Israeli conflict remains a priority.

On the Ukraine-Russia crisis, Al-Quds said Britain expects the worst-case scenario to take place next week.
