Newspaper Review: Dailies highlight the latest on the Russian-Ukrainian crisis

Palestinian Arabic-language dailies focused today on the ongoing Russian military operation in Ukraine and the fierce battles taking place around the Ukrainian capital Kyiv as Russian troops are trying to enter the city.

Al-Quds wrote in bold black: “Putin: the military operation is continuing until the end.” It also wrote in bold red: “Fierce battles are taking place around Kyiv as Russian military advances in other locations.”

Al-Ayyam wrote in bold red: “Russia launches a wide-scale offensive in Ukraine as Israeli Prime Minister starts mediation talks.”

Al-Hayat al-Jadida said in its main news story: “800 Palestinian housing units in the occupied Jerusalem neighborhood of Jabal al-Mukabbir are facing the risk of Israeli demolition.” Al-Ayyam also reported the same story.

On a different subject, Al-Quds said injuries among Palestinians were reported yesterday during clashes with the Israeli occupation forces in the towns of Kafr Qaddum and Abu Dis in the occupied West Bank.

Al-Hayat al-Jadida said the Presidency of the State of Palestine has been thoroughly following up the situation of the Palestinian community in war-hit Ukraine.

Al-Hayat al-Jadida and Al-Ayyam said the Palestinian government and the Palestinian Medical Syndicate reached an agreement yesterday ending plans by doctors working in the government sector to go on a strike later this week.

The two dailies also reported that two years after the outbreak of the COVID pandemic in Palestine, a total of 651 thousand COVID cases and 5,577 deaths were documented in the country ever since.
