Sign this card for the Corrie Family

I remember so well this day fifteen years ago. We had all marched the week before in the biggest demonstration I had ever seen against the Iraq War, but the specter of war still hung over every moment.

Then the news came that a young woman named Rachel Corrie had been killed by an Israeli soldier, run over by an enormous armed Caterpillar bulldozer while she was protecting a Palestinian home.

I was deeply, truly shocked. I had already been a member of Jewish Voice for Peace for a couple of years, but apparently I had not yet absorbed the reality of what kind of violence Israel was capable of, even against unarmed American volunteers.

I thought endlessly about Rachel’s parents–what they were going through, and what they had done to raise a child of such principle and determination.

A few years later, when I met Cindy and Craig Corrie for the first time, I got my answer. Their response to Rachel’s horrifying death was to turn to community and solidarity in solace. Their unfailing kindness and steadfast commitment in the face of greatest personal tragedy inspires each and every person I have seen them interact with.

Will you join me in thanking Cindy and Craig–in remembrance of their beautiful daughter, and for all the incredible, impactful work and relationships they have brought to our movement in the last 15 years?

Please sign this card to Cindy and Craig with me today.
