Newspapers Review: US delegation meeting outcomes focus of dailies

News about the outcomes of the meeting between President Mahmoud Abbas and the US delegation hit the front pages of the three Palestinian Arabic dailies on Sunday.

Al-Quds, al-Ayyam and al-Hayat al-Jadida said Abbas spoke to Jordan’s King Abdullah II via a phone call about the outcomes of his meeting with the US delegation that is working to resume negotiations between Palestinians and Israel.

Al-Quds said while the delegation was open to the idea of a two-state solution, White House adviser Jared Kushner told the Palestinians that stopping construction of Israeli settlements is not possible.

Al-Hayat al-Jadida reported, in a big headline, that 8-year-old Palestinian Aseel Abu Oun was killed after being hit by an Israeli car in Beit Dajan in the Nablus district, the occupied West Bank.

Abu Oun was laid to rest in her hometown, the village of Jaba, northern of Jenin.

The three newspapers said that Prime Minister Rami Hamdalla announced that the Palestinian Authority will rehire employees from the ministries of health and education in the Gaza Strip, who were forced into retirement.

Al-Ayyam and al-Quds reported that Israel’s Supreme Court has banned Israeli Electric power from cutting power to areas in the occupied West Bank.

According to al-Quds, EU argued Israel to return confiscated educational equipment to a school in the village of Jeb al-Theeb.
