Israel bans Palestinian from al-Aqsa for one month, home for one week

JERUSALEM – Israeli authorities Thursday banned a Palestinian from the Old City of Jerusalem from entering Al-Aqsa Mosque for the period of one month and from reaching his home for one week, according to local sources.

They said Israeli authorities released Rami Fakhori, a resident of Bab Hutta in the Old City, from prison on condition he does not enter Al-Aqsa Mosque for one month and the Old City, where he lives, for one week.

Fakhori was detained few days earlier.

Police has already barred dozens of Palestinians from entering the Muslim holy compound, many of them employees with the Waqf department who work as security guards inside the mosque.

Meanwhile, scores of Jewish radicals held provocative tours of Al-Aqsa compound on Thursday morning accompanied by Israeli police.

At the same time, Prime Minister Rami Hamdallah met at his Ramallah office with the Grand Mufti of Jerusalem Sheikh Mohammad Hussein to discuss the latest developments in Jerusalem and Al-Aqsa Mosque, where tension has been high for the last three weeks following Israeli closure of the Muslim holy compound to worshippers.

The Palestinian government deducted what amounts to one-day’s pay from the July salary of all public employees intended to go toward helping the steadfastness of Jerusalem’s Palestinian residents against Israeli measures.
