Thousands rally in Istandbul against security measures at Al-Aqsa compound

ISTANBUL – Yesterday thousands of people joined in on a demonstration in Istanbul against the security measures Israel imposed and later removed at the Al-Aqsa mosque in Jerusalem.

It was organized by the Turkey’s Saadet Party and was called “The Big Jerusalem Meeting” and took place at the Yenikapi parade ground on the Southern edge of Istanbul, the Jerusalem post reports.

The chairman of the Saadet party and representatives for NGOs addressed the crowd on a stage in front of five thousand protesters waving the Palestinian flags and posters.

“You should know that not only Gaza, but Tel Aviv also has their eyes on this parade ground. Netanyahu does as well, and he is scared”, said Saadet Party Chairman Temel Karamollaoglu, referring to Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, according to Reuters.
President Tayyip Erdogan has earlier warned Israel that it would suffer the most from the dispute and has opposed the security measures installed at the al Aqsa compound.
