Israeli forces detain 24 Palestinians, including activist from West Bank

RAMALLAH – Israeli forces Tuesday detained 24 Palestinians, including an activist and five minors, during multiple overnight raids across the West Bank, said Palestine Prisoner’s Society (PPS) and local sources.

PPS said Israeli forces raided Kobar village, northwest of Ramallah, and detained Ibtisam al-Abed, whose son, Omar, who stabbed and killed three Israeli settlers and seriously injured another after breaking into the illegal settlement of Halamish on Friday.

Deputy Head of Kobar village council Naim Sabbah said forces also detained two more Palestinians after wreaking havoc in their family homes and seized a vehicle from the village.

He added that a Palestinian villager was rushed to a hospital after being severely beaten by troops during the raid.

Israeli troops conducted a similar raid into Bilin, where they handcuffed and detained one Palestinian as well as activist Abdullah Abu Rahma. His vehicle was seized.

Meanwhile, Israeli troops detained six Palestinians, including four 17-year-old minors, during multiple raids into Bethlehem district in the southern West Bank.

Meanwhile, at least three Palestinians were handcuffed and detained during raids into Hebron’s Old City, Dura, Yatta and Beit Ummar towns.

Another Palestinian was detained during a raid into Beit Duqqu town, northwest of Jerusalem.

In the northern West Bank, troops detained a 17-year-old Palestinian minor during a raid into Salfit city. Three other Palestinians were detained during similar raids that sparked clashes in Nablus district.

Security sources said violent clashes erupted during the aid with Palestinian residents who protested and attempted to block soldiers’ entry.

Israeli army opened fire at protestors, injuring a protestor with a live round in the shoulder and another with rubber-coated steel bullets. The two injuries were rushed into a Nablus-based hospital for treatment.
