HEBRON – Palestinian residents of Beit Ummar, a town north of Hebron, Tuesday clashed with Israeli soldiers who raided the town in a search-and-arrest campaign, according to a local activist.
The soldiers raided the home of Jamil Masharqa in the center of town looking for his 25-year-old son, Khaldoun, according to the activist, Mohammad Awad.
When they did not find him, the soldiers informed the father that he has until Tuesday morning to turn him over to a military outpost set up at the entrance to the town on the main Bethlehem-Hebron road.
During the raid, residents clashed with the soldiers, throwing rocks at them.
The soldiers responded firing tear gas at homes causing several suffocation cases.
