Hunters, farmers come under Israeli army gunfire east of Gaza

Israeli occupation forces today opened gunfire at Palestinian bird hunters and farmers working along the eastern frontier of the Gaza Strip forcing them to leave the area, according to WAFA correspondent.

He said Israeli soldiers stationed along the frontier east of Gaza city fired at bird hunters and farmers, forcing them to leave the area for safer grounds.

In Rafah, south of the Strip, Israeli soldiers stationed along the eastern frontier also fired live bullets and teargas canisters at Palestinian farmers, forcing them to leave.

No injuries were reported in any of the incidents.

Israel prevents Palestinians from reaching their lands near the Israeli border fence as it tries to create a buffer zone at the expense of Palestinian lands and regularly opens fire at Palestinians who come close to the fence.

Yesterday, Israeli navy ships opened fire at fishermen sailing on the northern Gaza coast forcing them to cut their fishing expedition short and return to shore to avoid injury or damage to their boats.
