Foreign Ministry condemns Israel’s field execution of palestinian young man in Jerusalem

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates condemned the crime of field execution carried out by the Israeli occupation forces against a Palestinian young man in occupied East Jerusalem earlier today.

The ministry further denounced the collective punishment measures imposed by the occupation police against the Jerusalemites in the aftermath of the shooting and killing of the young man, who was identified as Kareem Jamal Qawasmi, 19.

The ministry maintained that this heinous crime comes amid a wave of recent escalations by the Israeli police in the city of Jerusalem, which inflicted many casualties among defenseless Palestinian civilians, including children.

The ministry deplored the insistence of the international community and countries that harp on human rights day and night, to ignore Israel’s crimes and the daily violations committed against the defenseless Palestinian citizens, which it stressed rise to the level of war crimes and crimes against humanity. The ministry further condemned their preference to close their eyes to the suffering of the Palestinians.

The ministry called on the Secretary-General of the United Nations to activate the international protection system for the Palestinian people under occupation, as a necessary step to enable the Palestinian people to exercise their right to self-determination and establish their independent state with East Jerusalem as its capital.

It also called on the International Criminal Court to assume its responsibilities and expedite the start of its investigations into the crimes of the occupation and its settlers against the Palestinian people.
