On Tuesday 28th of July the Ambassador of the State of Palestine to Greece, Marwan Toubassi met with the President of KIN.AL – (Kinima Allagis /Movement for Change), Mrs. Fofi Gennimata.
The meeting reflected on the historical relationship that spanned decades of friendship and solidarity rooted from the close and brotherly relations between the late leaders Andreas Papandreou and Yasser Arafat that continue to this day from PASOK to the new generation leaders of KINAL, based on the common principles of peace, freedom , democracy and human rights.
Ambassador Toubassi thanked Mrs. Gennimata for the continued steadfast positions, the solidarity and support for the establishment of the State of Palestine on the pre 4th of June 1967 borders with East Jerusalem its capital in accordance with the relevant UN resolutions, International Law and International Humanitarian Law.
Ambassador Toubassi briefed the President of KINAL on the Israeli violations in the occupied State of Palestine that have been ongoing for over 53 years, with the growth of the illegal Israeli settler population on occupied Palestinian Land, who have been increasing their aggressions with the cover and protection of Israeli soldiers, burning Palestinian agricultural lands and Palestinian religious sites of worship, in addition to the systematic policy of Judaizing the city of Jerusalem, the construction of the Apartheid wall, the daily killing of the Palestinian people and children and stressed that despite all these Israeli violations, our arms remain extended for peace negotiations based on international consensus, the United Nations resolutions and International Law.
Ambassador Toubassi made a special reference to the trajectory of the East-Med Pipeline which disregards the sovereign rights of maritime borders of Lebanon and Palestine, highlighting that State of Palestine submitted the coordinates of its maritime zones last September to the United Nations and reaffirmed that while Palestine and Greece are signatories of UNCLOS, Israel the occupying power refuses to be a signatory and violates the maritime zones of Lebanon and Palestine.
Ambassador Toubassi referred to the Deal of the Century as an unacceptable deal between Trump and Netanyahu, which disregards the rights of the Palestinian People and violates all signed agreements, the relevant UN resolutions, and International law.
Ambassador Toubassi called on KINAL to exercise pressure on the Greek government to implement the unanimous resolution (December 2015) of the Greek Parliament to recognise the state of Palestine on the pre 4th of June 1967 borders with East Jerusalem its capital and reiterated that by now there are over 140 countries around the world that recognise the State of Palestine.
Ambassador Toubassi renewed his calls that the only path to peace is to exercise pressure on Israel and impose sanctions in order to abide by International Law and UN Resolutions.
Mrs. Gennimata welcomed the Ambassador and his colleagues and expressed her honour to have met the late Leader Yasser Arafat when she was a member of the youth of PASOK being raised with the ideals, principles and visions of the late leaders Arafat and Papandreou, those of peace, freedom and solidarity with the Palestinian People.
Mrs. Gennimata praised the historical relations between the Greek and Palestinian People and affirmed their steadfast position in support of the Palestinian People.
