Settlers attack civilians’ homes in Hebron

Illegal Israeli settlers protected by a military escort today attacked with stones and empty bottles Palestinian civilians’ homes in the Old City quarter, in the occupied West Bank city of Hebron, said WAFA correspondent.

He said rampaging Jewish settlers accompanied by soldiers forced their way into the area, attacking homes and terrifying their residents, especially children.

The settlers also performed provocative tours across the markets of the Old City, terrorizing store-keepers and passengers and threatening them, with the soldiers doing nothing to stop the assaults.

Around 800 hardcore Jewish settlers live in the Israeli-controlled section of Hebron, known as H2, among over 20,000 Palestinians.

Harassment of Palestinians by settlers in that area is a frequent occurrence, particularly following the departure of the international monitoring team, the Temporary International Presence in Hebron (TIPH), in February 2019 after Israel refused to extend the team’s mandate.
