Palestinian student Afaf Sharif scores first in Arab Reading Challenge

Palestinian student Afaf Sharif from al-Bireh Secondary School for Girls scored the first position on Wednesday in the Dubai-based Arab Reading Challenge competition, among seven million students participating in the competition.

Minister of Education and Higher Education, Sabri Saydam, congratulated Sharif on her winning, saying her success would not have come true without the hard work of Palestinian teachers and school principals, and without the strong support of parents to their children and to schools’ staff.

This is the second time a Palestinian student or school wins the competition. Last year, the Nablus-based Tala’ea al-Amal School won the competition, and hence was ranked as the best Arab school of the year.
