Israeli forces detained at least 21 Palestinians during raids in the occupied West Bank between Thursday evening and Friday morning, according to local Palestinian sources.
Israeli forces detained 522 Palestinians, including 130 minors and 16 women, over the course of the month of August, according to a joint report released Palestinian institutions focusing on prisoners’ rights.
The total number of Palestinians in Israeli prisons reached 6,300 prisoners, the report said, 64 of them women. Among them are 10 girls under the age of 18 and 300 underage boys, 450 administrative detainees imprisoned without charge or trial, and 12 members of the Palestinian Legislative Council, the Palestinian parliament.
Overnight West Bank raids
In the northern West Bank district of Jenin, locals told Ma’an that Israeli forces detained 14 Palestinians from the Yaabad town, including an unspecified number of minors .
Locals identified the detainees as Nour Abd al-Karim Atatra, Nidal Yaqoub Infeiat and his brother Qaisar, Abdullah Harzallah, Shamel Farouq Harzallah, Izz Farouq Harzallah, Arafat Husni Amr and one of his children who remained unidentified, Taher Jawad Badarneh, Sharaf Abu Bakr, Mutaz Abu Bakr, Amer Baajawi, Khalid al-Qneiri and Nizar Atatra.
In the southern West Bank Bethlehem district, Israeli forces detained three Palestinians identified as Mustafa Salim Abu Aker, 17, from the Aida refugee camp, and Iyad Mahmoud Taqatqa, 32, and Wajdi Kamal Thawabteh, 27, from the Beit Fajjar town.
Meanwhile in the Hebron-area town of al-Shuyoukh, Israeli forces delivered interrogation summons to two brothers that locals identified as Qassam and Majd Moussa Halayqa.
Qassam and Majd are former prisoners while their father, Moussa Abdullah Halayqa, is serving a 22-year sentence in Israeli prison.
An Israeli army spokesperson told Ma’an that nine Palestinians were detained in overnight raids, and did not specify from which towns of villages they were detained from.
Undercover Israeli forces arrest 3 Palestinians
In the central West Bank town of Biddu, located in the Jerusalem district, undercover Israeli forces detained three Palestinian “youths” on Thursday evening after a raiding a home in the town.
Clashes erupted during the raid, as Palestinian youths threw rocks and Molotov cocktails at Israeli forces in attempts to prevent them from stepping out of the military vehicles they were riding.
An Israeli army spokesperson said they were looking into reports.
Israeli forces detain Palestinian from gas station, assault station employees
On Friday morning, Israeli forces detained a Palestinian “youth” while he was working at a gas station in Hebron city in the southern West Bank, according to locals.
Locals told Ma’an that forces detained Alaa Tareq Abu Rajab and confiscated an undisclosed amount of money that he had in his possession.
Sources added that during the detention, Israeli forces assaulted three other employees.
