Israeli police shoot, arrest Palestinian in Jerusalem

The Israeli police on Sunday arrested a Palestinian man after shooting him in Occupied Jerusalem for allegedly attempting to carry out an attack.

The police claimed in a press statement that they managed to arrest the 52-year-old Jerusalemite in Beit Safafa neighborhood to the south of Jerusalem in cooperation with the Shin Bet after being informed about the presence of a potential attacker in the area.

The Jerusalemite man was shot in the foot before being arrested and taken for interrogation, according to the police.

Dozens of Palestinians have been killed, arrested or injured at checkpoints in the West Bank and in Jerusalem neighborhoods since the outbreak of the Jerusalem Intifada in early October 2015 under the pretext of attempting attacks on Israeli targets.
