Israeli settlers set fire to vehicles in village near Ramallah

Jewish settlers Wednesday set fire to Palestinian-owned vehicles in the village of Umm Safa, northwest of Ramallah, according to the village council head Marwan Sabah.

He told WAFA that at around 2:30 in the morning, Israeli settlers set fire to two vehicles owned by village residents and wrote hate slogans calling for revenge against Palestinians and Arabs in response to the killing last month of three settlers in the nearby illegal settlement of Halamish.

This is not the first time the village comes under attack from extremist settlers from Halamish and Ateret, he said, pointing out that the incident took place in spite of the presence of Israeli soldiers at the entrance to the village until late at night.

Sabah said the settlers came to the homes on the outskirts of the village after the soldiers had left and torched two vehicles.

Army jeeps came to the village in the morning to examine the area, he said.
