Statement of the Anti – Corruption Commission – Palestine
With presidents and representatives of Palestinian universities, the Anti-Corruption Commission in Palestine celebrated the launching of two academic courses that will be offered during the academic year 2017-2018 in all universities and colleges signed-on the memorandum of cooperation.
The celebration took place at the Ministry of Higher Education in the State of Palestine, with the presence of H.E. The Minister of Education and H.E the Commissioner of Palestine Anti-corruption Commission.
The launch of these two courses is part of the National Anti-Corruption Strategy and in line with the educational role played by the universities, colleges and higher institutes in the State of Palestine, to promote and consolidate the principles of integrity, transparency and combating corruption.
The synopses of the courses are results of the efforts of an Academic National Committee that was nominated by 14 universities in Palestine. The First fragment is a general teaching course for all higher education majors in Palestine. And the second course is a specialized one for law faculties only.
According to the memorandum of cooperation, signed between the Anti-Corruption Commission and the universities, the universities undertake to adopt the two courses synopses annexed to the memorandum ,and integrate them into the study plans, starting from the academic year 2017-2018, and that each of the courses be offered as “optional” courses. Universities and university colleges will seek to present them as a mandatory requirement in the future in coordination with relevant authorities. The attached courses synopses are instructional plans and The educational institutions signed the memorandum may change synopses, according to their needs. Moreover the lecturer has transitioned signals the right to choose the reference that suits him.
The Anti-Corruption Commission will act as a party to this memorandum to provide all the necessary needs, and facilities to ensure the implementation of these two courses, especially with regard to the practical component of the courses. The commission will also endeavour to provide all parties with available references and publications.
The signing of this Memorandum will follow a number of practical steps to ensure that courses are properly offered to all participating universities. This will include follow-up meetings during periods agreed upon by the National Academic Committee, a pre- and post-assessment of the course, and the training of the teaching staff, In order to unify the concepts and agree on the mechanisms and methods, including the practical part, which was given importance in the synopses of the courses.
The National Academic Committee agreed on tittles of the courses: the first course will be entitled “Corruption Crimes in Palestinian Legislations”, while the second will be given the tittle “Fighting Corruption, Challenges and Solutions”.
